How should one prepare for breast augmentation surgery?
Breast augmentation surgery requires mostly the patient to be well informed about the procedure, it's benefits (and risks) as well as possible complications. That is something that any person needs to do before any surgery. Most patients have already decided they really want the procedure. Beyond that if the patient has any medical problems they may need to be "cleared " medically by their regular doctors. Any medicines they are on may need to be reviewed, sometimes certain ones are stopped prior to surgery. If the patient has small children at home it is recommended to have some help arranged since lifting over 10 lbs is not recommended in the first two weeks after surgery. I hope this helps!. What is breast augmentation?
Breast augmentation or breast enhancement is a technique that adds size and fullness to the breast with an implant. The implant can be placed in front of or behind the chest wall muscle. Breast implants are either saline (filled with salt water) or silicone gel. This is a popular elective procedure that many women undergo to add balance, symmetry, and fullness to their breasts. It is very uplifting, improves self esteem and patient's confidence. Some patients elect to have the procedure as young as 18 if they simply desire more fullness, while others wait until after having children. Perhaps the best time to consider augmentation is after having children, because pregnancy imparts significant changes to the breast and adding an implant can restore volume, improve shape, and "uplift " the breast, many times giving women their pre-pregnancy appearance back. In some cases it is necessary to do a "breast lift " or mastopexy at the same time as the implants.
