How should one prepare for breast augmentation surgery?
Every patient is different. In general, we recommend that patients quit smoking 3 weeks before their breast augmentation surgery, quit aspirin or other NSAIDs one week prior, some nutritional supplements like Arnica or Bromelain. Your surgeon may recommend other things specific to you. Patients should always follow the specific instructions of their physician.
How is breast augmentation surgery performed?
Dr. Adams uses the approach of placing the breast implant under the pectoral muscle (sub-muscular) in most cases. Patients find this produces a more realistic look, feel, and better all round results than other methods. It is also easier to do mammography to detect breast cancer.
Dr. Adams is an expert in all methods of breast enhancement including:
Through an incision under the arm (axillary)
Under the areola (periareola)
Under the breast (inframammary)
Either silicone breast implants or saline breast implants are available. There are hundreds of options to choose from when selecting a Breast Implant type, size, and shape. Breast Implants may be shaped depending on your body type/preference and include: Round smooth, Round textured and Breast shaped textured.
Breast Enlargement is performed under general anesthesia. Additionally, The Adams Center uses the I-Flow Comfort Pump to deliver medications that ease pain during breast augmentation surgery and reduce recovery times. You may return home same day or next day following your Breast Augmentation. Most patients recover within 2 weeks.
How can I find a qualified board certified plastic surgeon?
The best place to start the process is through a referral. Good sources of referrals include: - Your doctor - Surgical societies including the ASPS or ASAPS - American Board of Plastic Surgery
