How is breast augmentation surgery performed?

In performing breast augmentation surgery, I can make the incision in a number of different ways. There are three common techniques: an incision can be made in the natural breast crease, around the areola (the dark circle surrounding the nipple), or through the armpit. The breast crease incision (also known as an inframammary fold incision) is most commonly used because it has the least amount of complications and heals wonderfully. For most women who undergo surgery to place breast implants, the crease incision is barely visible two years after surgery. I prefer this type of breast augmentation surgery because it allows me to more precisely place breast implants in the desired location for the best possible look. Almost always, the implants are placed in a precisely created pocket under the chest muscle.
